I totally agree with the re-investing the money we spend on that pack of cigarettes. But, unfortunately I know what the person was saying when they said, "I can't afford it". The box of starter patches costs 35.00 - 50.00 depending on where you live. So if you're like me, living day to day on tips because I wait tables, makes it harder for me to spend that lump sum in one day when I have bills to pay. It's harder to manage daily funds. So to buy that pack of cigarettes daily is cheaper for the moment. But, in the long run no way. I do want to stop just need help. Sign, anonymous in Texas.

Just another excuse. NEW

Just another excuse. If you re-invested the money you're spending on EXPENSIVE tobacco products into quit smoking aids you could afford to quit. Say, if you're smoking a pack a day, that's 5-10 dollars A DAY, depending on where you live, average cost for patches, per day is 3 dollars a day...3 DOLLARS compared to 5-10 per day. What's your excuse now? Stop spending your money on costly tobacco products and start spending your money on quit smoking aids....you're using tobacco for the rest of your life whereas with patches or what-not you're only spending that money for 3 months, it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

Stop making excuses and start quitting.
