Free programs are NOT free!

(Lancaster Co. PA)

I called my States Free Quit Now program, only to be asked my Insuranece Policy number! When I refused to give that information, I was disconnected from the phone call. Of course I tried to call back to no avail and so far I have not received a call back.If these programs are advertised as FREE, why do they need my Health Insurance Policy Number? I did feel comfortable giving that information out to a complete stranger. So, I did not get any help and I need help to quit smoking. I am frustrated in PA.

You're A Liar! NEW

First of all, they wouldn't have hung up on you, they aren't allowed to hang up on. They ask for your insurance information because certain insurance groups have partnerships with the state quitline in order to help fund the service, they don't bill your insurance, they don't report back to your insurance company and someone would have called you back if you were smart enough to leave a voicemail. I used the program and my insurance knew nothing of my participation nor was my insurance billed. They'd be more than happy to explain to you the reason they ask for the information if you weren't too stupid or impatient to listen to them. The help is there you just have to want it and stop making excuses and blaming everyone else on why you can't quit smoking.

If you don't want to provide them with your insurance information they will still work with you, they will not disconnect the call or hang up on you, you are lying and you know you are. They do not force you to provide your insurance information to them.

Stop making excuses on why you're smoking and be ready to commit to their coaching program, which is a great help along with free patches. All they ask of you for the patches is to participate in coaching because coaching combined with NRT increases your chances of quitting tobacco for good.
